Great Friday Fish Fry ! ! ! We had both beer battered and broiled walleye . . . both were delicious. The broasted chicken was also awesome. The sweet fried bread was a real treat. We came hungry and left full. We arrived around 4:00PM and the restaurant was 3/4 full. When we left there was a H U G E line of people waiting to get in and the parking lot appeared to be full. They offered drinks and apps outside and there picnic tables to sit on, as you waited to get in. I wish they had other locations. Best meal in the Hayward Area.

Best fish fry on the planet! This is coming from a vegetarian. This is the ONLY place I will eat fish! Love this family tradition in Hayward. Even met Larry the Cable guy here one Independence Day weekend!!

Best. Fish. Fry. Ever. After you eat fish fry here you will compare all others to this one. Imagine this: fry bread, coleslaw, baked potato or French fries, fried or baked walleye, fried chicken(!), and blush wine! 13.50! Oh, and did I mention it's all you can eat?!?! Hungry yet? Pros: Awesome food. Nice staff. Great location. Setting wise, otherwise it's a bit of a hike. Cons: Hmmmmmmmm, none? Just so you know they have a Sunday fish fry that is less busy than Fridays. It is usually busy during dinner on Fridays, but that's just part of it. Get a drink and hang out or walk over to the lake and hang out for a bit.

Come hungry. As everyone else has said this is the best authentic fish fry ever. The fish fry is served family style and includes fried chicken, biscuits, coleslaw and more. Too much. Be sure to show up early and hungry. You will still have to wait but hopefully not as long. My first time here a few years ago was coming with family members in their eighties who have been summering up here for most of their lives. They come here once or twice a summer and have for many years. So while this place may SEEM remote, people up here will travel a good distance for a great meal at a place associated with their history and memories. People come from all around and pack this place for the ultimate Northern WI tradition- fish fry. And since there isn't a lot to do up here, this is often the big event of their day or even their week, especially when family is around. For those not from around here, Fish fry is a whole meal that iNCLUDES fish it isn't JUST fried fish. Also, the fish in this meal can often come prepared in more healthy ways, not just fried, so don't let the name deter you and be sure to ask about options. This is a great place to go after looking through the cute shops in nearby Stone Lake or enjoying an afternoon drink at Schoolhouse Wines. Set on a beautiful lake this is the real Northwoods experience.

Friday night can pose quiet the wait during the peak season, but it is worth the wait. During peak season, a wait of 60-90 minutes is not unheard of. You should also come on a Saturday night for the regular menu. You will find great food there that you won't find in many restaurants outside of major metropolitan cities. Thursday features a fajita special that is a nice break from the regular northwoods pizza and fried food fare.

I think the pine ridge is no longer able to keep up with their reputation & amount of customers! 2 bad experiences: 1-Once we went there, with kids (our bad choice) thinking we were getting there early at 4:45. The wait was about 45min-1 hour, so we decided to order the fish fry as take out. We were told this would be quick, take out was easy... After 20 minutes, I asked where our order was, especially as i could see the people who were seated-at the same time as we ordered take out-being served at their table! As i asked, the waitress/hostess about our takeout...she searched the orders...asked me what we ordered, & then began (i believe) putting in the order at that time!! After another 20 minutes, our takeout finally arrived-with many apologies from the servers! At that point, we waited 45 minutes-we could have been seated at a table by that time! 2-another time we went there, just the 2 of us, no kids & were ok with waiting a long time and talking at the bar. Many people in line at the host station-just to check in & get a pager! We were given a pager & sat at the bar. People continued to enter, get their pager & hang around the bar. AGAIN, I noticed that people who came AFTER us were seated before us. I assumed table & group size might be the reason. However, I took our pager to the host staton, just to ask how much more time. They had NOT entered our pager number! If i had not asked, they would have never called us for a table. Again, amidst many apologies, we were given the choices 1-continue to wait for a table, 2-eat at the bar. We chose to have our meal at the bar. The bartender/waiter/takeout food runner....was nice, & apologetic again, and tried to help us as best he could, amidst his going 3 different directions & leaving the bar unattended many times.

A group of us on vacation went to Pine Ridge last Friday for the fish fry. Weather was miserable in the 40s, and we debated waiting the 90 mins as it was too cold outside. But we thought it must be good with this kind of wait. Had some great drinks at the bar with a reasonable selection of Wisconsin beers and a mean Manhattan. When we finally sat down, the food was very good, but the fried chicken was outstanding. We live in Chicago and fried chicken is very in right now. This chicken blows all of the Chicago chicken away and may be the best ever. Fish was good, but we found ourselves fighting over the chicken. Chicken is a bit salty, which all of us loved. My guess is they brine it pretty well. We came back a second night (non fish fry) and the meal was decent, but nothing to write home about. I had the ribs, sand my fellow diners had the wild rice soup, linguini, and chicken Cesar salad. All were rather boring compared to the fry, but offered a reasonable selection, especially given there aren't a lot of options to eat nearby. Definitely go Friday night - and have some of that amazing chicken... Oh and I suppose some fish while you are there.

This place deserves the 5 stars it has. We visited in early October and had an amazing meal, excellent drinks and a fabulous waitress...wish I remembered her name. We promised her we'd leave a review on yelp, even though she had not heard of yelp :). I loved that they had fun drinks of the day, as I'm not a beer drinker at all. We will definitely make the visit to Pine Ridge a regular stop every time we're up north for vacation. We all agreed we'd make the drive all the way from Cable where we normally stay just to have a great meal there.

After seeing all of the great reviews here, we decided to try Pine Ridge instead of our usual steakhouse (The Ranch) for a family dinner out. I have NEVER been treated so poorly in any business in my life. We were treated as if we were spreading an awful disease. If you want a great steak or supper club dinner with friendly service go to The Ranch in Hayward instead. We arrived at the restaurant and put our name in at the hostess stand. There were 5 people in our party along with my son and his service dog. The hostess looked confused about the service dog but didn't ask any questions. We waited in the bar area sitting at one of the picnic tables enjoying a pre dinner drink. The staff is steadily calling groups and seating them in the main dining area around behind the bar. We patiently sat waiting for our turn to be called to be seated in the dining area. After waiting for over 30 minutes and getting a bit chilly in the bar area we see a staff member setting the picnic table behind us up for a party of five. We found this odd because everyone who was waiting for a table was being lead into the main dining room. We sat for another 10-15 minutes and our pager went off letting us know it was our turn. We all walk up to the hostess stand and she walks around our group and leads us back to the picnic table behind the one we were waiting at in the bar. We found it odd but thought perhaps the main dining room was full and we happened to be the first table seated in this area. We were a bit upset also that the table had been ready for a bit and there was that much of a delay to move us to the table next to us. Again, we chalked it up to a possible staffing need or something else. Now we are sitting at a picnic table in the bar discussing menu items and deciding which entree we each found tempting. We then notice another group called to the hostess stand and the staff leads them back to the main dining room. We go back to deciding on our meals. The bar is a bit cold because of the patrons entering and exiting the building and we decide to put our coats back on. We then see another party at the hostess stand and they are lead back into the main dining room. We are starting to get a bit unsure why we continue to be the only dinner group sitting in the bar area. There are 6 picnic tables in the bar area. It is rather obvious we are the only ones there. We place our order and then see another party being led to the main dining area. After 15-20 minutes our food arrives. My husband cuts into his prime rib only to find it cold. My prime rib is room temperature but I decide it isn't worth the hassle to send back. While watching for our waitress to ask her about warming my husbands meal yet another party is led back into the main dining room and sat for their dinner. So the prime rib is returned at room temperature instead of cold and he eats it because it isn't worth the hassle of trying to find the waitress again. All of this time people are entering the bar area and checking in at the hostess stand and waiting to be seated. Some customers waiting to be seated decided to play some music on the jukebox. We had to go to the bar and ask for it to be turned down because we couldn't even hear the person sitting next to us. Parties finished dining are leaving the main dining room through the bar to leave also. All of them walk past us so we see the flow of traffic. Not one other party was ever seated at the tables in the bar where we were seated in the entire 3 hours we were there! We never even saw the dining room in a restaurant where we easily spent over $100 between pre dinner drinks and our meal that followed. Don't forget the fact we had to eat with our coats on. It was as if we were an embarrassment to the restaurant and couldn't be seated with the other patrons. NEVER in my life have I ever been treated so poorly. We weren't dressed inappropriately. A fair share of the patrons were wearing snowmobile gear. There was no excuse at all for the way we were treated. The only reason we could come up with is because we had a service dog in our party.

Best fish fry around! If you arrive after 5pm, expect a 2+hr wait. Our family enjoys the drinks and brings a couple of 'yard toss' games to pass the time (if we're running late). Otherwise , a nice stroll around the grounds and along the lake makes the wait time pass quickly.

We consider ourselves fish fry experts. We seek them out like pigs seek out truffles. This was a recommendation by a friend who has a cabin in Hayward and after our ok experience at the Ranch last year in Hayward, we were more than happy to go. No reservations, just be seated as you get there. The bar area is large enough to accommodate those that are waiting. We got there approx 4:30 (older parents, like to eat early) and there were two tables left. And what large tables for four they were! Although we were just outside the kitchen, it wasn't annoying or gross. On the contrary, it was fascinating to see the wait staff turn the fish and chicken out. As for the meal, we got the works - their standard fish fry which included fried bread at the onset (too bad for my gluten free husband!), a small glass of rose wine, homemade coleslaw (with locally grown cranberries!), our fish (either fried or baked walleye!) and four pieces of freshly fried chicken. Ok, since my mom and I don't make fried chicken because it's messy and hubs can't eat it, we were in chicken heaven. And it was all delicious. We ordered another piece of fish and split it and were ready to roll out. Literally. It was a perfectly splendid experience for our first time and we'll be back. The only drawback - the bathrooms were really small, a one-seater for the ladies and no way was this place ADA, so my father in law would not have been able to enjoy the facility.

This little gem is one of the best places for a great meal in the Hayward, Wisconsin area. It is small and does not take reservations, but it is worth the wait if there is one. I don't go there on Fridays for fish fry when there is usually a significant wait time. I go there on Thursdays or Saturdays when traffic is less and the wait is shorter. The setting is beautiful, and while waiting, a walk by Lake Sissabagama is relaxing. There are twelve tables and a very small kitchen, but the North woods atmosphere and the delicious food the kitchen puts out make it a worthwhile venture to find this delightful restaurant. I love their steaks. I will wait all year on my limited beef diet to have one of their steaks. They buy good meat and know how to cook it properly. Served with thin sliced onion rings, choice of potato, side salad or soup of the day it is a meal that is worthy of any quality steakhouse. (I have the green beans instead of the potato.) Occasionally, I'll share escargot with my wife for the healing effects of the garlic. I really hate to write this positive review because I want to keep this place a secret. It is just too good to miss.

In a relaxing north woods cabin atmosphere, Pine Ridge serves up one of the best fish fries I've had, Pine Ridge's fish fry includes flaky, tender beer battered Walleye (straying away from the traditional cod), moist and juicy pressure fried chicken (comparable to Coop's in downtown Hayward, one of the best I've had), homemade slaw (the sweetness you're tasting is cranberries), perfectly chewy fry bread dusted with powdered sugar, and some sort of sweet wine. The homemade tartar sauce served with the fish is everything a tartar sauce should be, creamy and tangy and the fries (you could choose baked potato if you wish)...I don't know if they're made from frozen or what, but they are battered and crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and served piping hot. There was nothing about this meal I didn't like. I'll be back for more, mark my words...mark my words.

This place is located off the beaten path in Stone Lake. I was told by other members that I dined with that this place is packed on Friday Fish Fry night. We came on Sunday for the fish fry. Got in within 30 minutes. Picnic tables outside to use while you wait to get in. I guess on Fridays when it is packed people bring cards and board games to play while they wait outside. On Sundays they serve a fish fry/spagetti/chicken dinner family style. The meal included two of the aforementioned items and they will bring it to your table along with Fry bread, cole slaw and fries. You can ask for as much as you want of each item. They also allow you take the leftovers home:) Fish was good, unlike a lot of the fish frys I have been to where they fish is very greasy. I had the option of fried or baked fish. Tried the spaghetti my husband ordered and it was good too:) Only complaint I had was that the service was slow. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks, I think this had to do with being seated in the bar area but still.... Also, my husband asked that they bring more fry bread since they only brought 6 pieces for 5 people and the waitress said I'll try to bring you more. No offense but you are telling customers that you can ask for as much as you want so that was a little annoying since we were all starving and we waited so long to even get our drinks after being seated. All in all I would go back:) Like the fish fry and items on the regular menu looked pretty good too:)

Wow. Is this place really in the middle of nowhere? Copious amounts of wonderful food. The best fish fry in Wisconsin. Get there early or plan to wait a long time, but the wait is worth it.

So I've been heading up to the Northwoods with my family for as long as I can remember. I go way back with Pine Ridge and it's changed quite a bit over the years. The food is decent fare - it's Wisconsin so really you shouldn't expect much anyway. We make a pilgrimage here every year when we're in the area and I always leave stuffed and happy.

Long wait but worth it for the ultimate chicken and fish fry on Fridays. I went here for my birthday and it was probably one of the best meals I've had in forever. Really fresh fish and great service. I've been going there for years because it's simply the best in this area. They bring you crazy amounts of food for the money and I've never known someone to leave there without feeling like they overdid it... but then again it is Wisconsin, moderation isn't exactly king when you're home.

Great place. Worth the trip. Wait for a table wasn't terribly long. Classic Northern Wisconsin Fish Fry. Cold beers and strong drinks.

Great place. We had a party of seven, one of whom was in a wheel chair. Handicap access was through part of the kitchen. Got to see the fish and chicken being fried. Kitchen was spotless and the owner was doing the frying, a very good sign. The food looked delicious and tasted as good. Fun place, wait was long but actually enjoyable because it seemed everyone waiting was on vacation, had a drink or two and was very social. We will be back. Service was excellent.

We went here on Thursday afternoon at about 5:00 pm, and glad we came early. It began to fill quickly. First of all, it's a beautiful log supper club setting on Stone Lake. We were seated immediately, the waitress came quickly, took drink and appetizer orders. Bar drinks were well prepared, nice size too! Those were brought quickly. Food order taken shortly afterwards...great service. Then the food: ...WOW....mahi mahi to die for! Iowa cut pork chops (large, perfectly cooked!). Ribs and wings for my wife! Best wings I've probably ever tasted...ribs and sauce..prefect. Cheese burger perfect. Portions were all more than ample. The four of us each had a nice sized carry-out box! We'd go back today...but we're headed home :-(( Next time we're anywhere near the Pine Ridge Restaurant, we'll definitely be back! Thanks for a great dining experience, Pine Ridge... Bob

This has got to be one of the best resort based restaurants in Northern Wisconsin. It's a must too stop when the family is up North. Fridays and Sundays is the family style all you can eat Walleye and Chicken dinner. Frankly it's so good I never had any reason to try anything else on the menu. During the summer season the wait can easily be an hour or more, but it's worth it. There's a bar where you can grab a drink while your waiting, so what's the hurry? Afraid the kids will get bored waiting? No problem as there is a large outdoor play area for them while you wait. Just don't forget the Bug Spray. It's a meal that you will be coming back for whenever your in the area.
